Area of Practice & Background
Rand is an associate practicing in the area of business and corporate law. She focuses her practice on corporate structuring/restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and reorganizations, incorporations both Federal and Provincial, shareholders agreements, partnership agreements, joint venture agreements and a variety of other corporate and commercial agreement documents. She also focuses on advising businesses of all sizes on commercial and corporate matters, employment matters and trademark registrations
Rand earned an Honours B.A. in 2012 from York University’s Law and Society program, graduating on the Dean’s Honour Roll. Subsequently, she graduated from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2016 with a specialization in Dispute Resolution and Professionalism. Rand joined the Sutherland Law team after articling at a full service firm in downtown Toronto, where she gained top litigation experience working alongside seasoned litigation counsel.
Rand is committed to utilizing her legal education to give back to the community. While in law school, she was a caseworker at a community legal aid clinic, where she assisted victims of crime obtain compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Rand also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada at the Medico-Legal Society Advocacy Project, where she represented a complainant following an investigation into a physician’s conduct. Rand was also a fellow at Injured Workers’ Consultants, a non-profit community legal clinic that specializes in assisting injured workers navigate the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board system. Currently, Rand is a member of the Social Committee at the Young Lawyers Chapter inthe Women’s Law Association of Ontario.
Outside the office, Rand, a self-proclaimed foodie, enjoys experimenting with recipes and trying new restaurants. She also tries to strike a balance between binge watching crime documentaries, and leading an active lifestyle by swimming and practicing yoga.
